Some things you may or may not know about your black roommate and might need to know:
If her hair is straight, you may or may not wake up to them looking like this^^^ They either rolled up their hair with rollers or wrapped it to keep their straight hair or relaxed her nice and smooth.
If they do roll their hair up, expect for their to be lost rollers everywhere.
Their hair will shed everywhere. Just get a vacuum.
They might not want to go swim with you because they don’t want to get their hair wet. This depends on the girl though.
They may be trying really hard to keep their straight hair straight. Don’t flick water at them. That’s not funny.
If their hair is natural…you might not want to ask on the first day if you can touch it.
Don’t be grossed out about your black roommate not washing their hair everyday. Black people can’t really do that. It’s just a thing. Our hair will dry out if it’s washed too much.
Especially don’t be surprised if they don’t wash their hair for awhile after they get their hair straightened. Don’t question it.
Respect the shower cap.
Don’t assume your black roommate only listens to rap music. Ask about their interests!
Don’t assume your roommate can dance. Don’t ask them to show you how to twerk on the first day.
You don’t need to emphasize how much you like black people to let your black roommate know that you’re not racist. SSssshhh. It’s okay.
Your black roommate is just a person. Just like you.
